Patient-specific Endograft Displacement Force Analysis

Abdominal aortic endograft migration is a complex process influenced by many factors including aneurysm tortuosity, neck and iliac angulation, and the hemodynamic state of the patient. Combining image-based 3D modeling and CFD techniques we can quantify the loads (displacement forces, DF) experienced by abdominal aortic endografts in-vivo.

The figure above illustrates the methodology employed for DF calculation: Starting with the patient CT image data (A), 3D computer models of the endograft and the abdominal aorta are built (B). Then, CFD analyses calculating blood flow velocity and pressure in the computer model are performed (C). Lastly, the DF is computed using the results of the CFD analysis (D).
